Why Visit Hua Hin in 2025?

If Thailand’s big islands feel a bit too busy, Hua Hin might be your perfect family escape. Just a 3-hour drive from Bangkok, this royal beach town combines golden sands, family-friendly resorts, lively night markets, and a touch of old-world charm.

During our last trip with two kids, we stayed near Hua Hin Beach, visited the famous night market, hopped on a tuk-tuk to Cicada Market, and even took a day trip to the Vana Nava water park. Compared to Phuket or Pattaya, Hua Hin felt calmer, more authentic, and definitely easier to explore with children.

Quick fact: Hua Hin has been a royal retreat since the 1920s when King Rama VII built his summer palace here. Today, it’s still where many Thai families (and expats) go for weekend breaks.

Best Beaches in Hua Hin (2025)

Unlike islands with dozens of bays, Hua Hin has a long main beach plus nearby coastal escapes.

  • Hua Hin Beach: The town’s central beach, stretching 7 km. Shallow water, soft sand, pony rides for kids, and lots of beachside cafés. Perfect base for any Hua Hin family trip in 2025.

  • Khao Takiab (Monkey Mountain): A quieter beach at the southern end with a temple on a hill. Expect monkeys (keep snacks hidden!).

  • Suan Son Pradipat Beach: Popular with locals. Wide, relaxed, with plenty of shade. Bring a picnic or rent a beach chair for the day.

  • Cha-Am Beach (30 mins north): More Thai-style with inflatable rings, seafood stalls, and colorful umbrellas.

The people behind Yim Travel!

We’re a family of four from Belgium who have been exploring Thailand for over a decade – ever since our kids were in kindergarten. From the islands of the south to the jungles in the north, we’ve traveled across Thailand by train, tuk-tuk, scooter and longtail boat.

With two growing teens now in tow, our adventures have grown with us. We’ve learned where to find the most kid-friendly beaches, the safest street food, the best family resorts, and the hidden gems that guidebooks often miss.

We started YIM Travel to share our hands-on experience with other families and travelers who want to explore Thailand with confidence. Every blog post is based on real trips, real places, and honest advice – with a big dose of love for Thai culture, food and people.

We don’t just write about Thailand. We live it.
